, NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 28 – Five people were killed on Friday night after a minibus they were travelling in was swept away as it attempted to cross the Agulu Mwok bridge in Homa Bay county.

As of 1pm on Saturday, 21 people had been rescued from the raging waters and been transferred to nearby health centres.

Red Cross official Nick Thuo told Capital News that it was unclear how many people had been on the minibus as it was overloaded when it left Homa Bay for Nyandiwa around 10pm. “We’re told it was the last bus of the night.”
