MACHAKOS, Kenya, Nov 10 – Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has received the report by the Task Force appointed to review the water supply situation in Machakos, Athi River, Syokimau and Mlolongo towns.

He said that the task force, led by a leading Machakos hotelier Alphonse Kioko has made practical recommendations which will be implemented immediately.

“I congratulate them for a job well done,” said Mutua.

The towns have been facing perennial water shortage prompting the Governor to institute the task force to find a lasting solution to the problem.

Mutua who received the report in his office said the task force found out that lack of proper flow of water is mainly due to mismanagement and lack of focus on providing services to the public.

He added boreholes that should be operating are lying idle and simple mitigation measures that should have been addressed have not.

“It is clear from the findings that I will have to undertake structural changes that may see people not committed to serving wananchi go home,” said Mutua.

He assured residents of these towns and the entire Machakos County that he was committed to the provision of clean water to them.

“Clean water is their right and one of my key visions which I pledged to deliver,” said Mutua.

Later, Mutua who toured Masinga sub-county in a meet the people tour reiterated his commitment in fighting corruption in the county.
He said that government officials implicated in corrupt deals will be shown the door.

Mutua said that he was committed to ensuring that all projects that he pledged to the electorate were implemented.

He addressed rallies in Kithyoko, Kivaa, Kikuumini, Kaewa and Masinga towns.
