Capital FM still tops in Twitter mentions

Capital FM website still ranks miles ahead in twitter visibility

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 4 – Capital FM Kenya has emerged top again on the list of most mentioned online media companies on Twitter in Kenya.

This is according to a report released by iStats, a social media monitoring company.

Capital FM leads with 42 percent while its closest rival comes in with 16 percent.

The company has also been named one of the 10 most mentioned brands on Twitter in Kenya.

Other top 10 brands on Twitter in the country include NTV, Citizen TV, KTN, Safaricom and Ghetto Radio among others.

According to iStats, the report is compiled from data based on 903,675 tweets that spanned across 131 brands in October 2015.

The report also shortlisted the top 10 brands in the country excluding those in media and they include Safaricom, Airtel, GoTV, KCB, Kenya Airways, Kenya Power, DSTV, Nakumatt Supermarket, Uchumi Supermarket and Equity Bank.

Pay TV has also not been left behind as far as starting conversations on Twitter is concerned. GoTV emerged top with a total of 14,000 mentions across 3994 users. Others to have dominated Pay TV conversations are DStv and Zuku. Other pay TV companies took 6 percent.

“KCB continues to dominate the banking sector by a large margin and has held on to the first position for the past six months bar apart from when Equity took the lead,” read the report.

Other banks tapping the table include Equity, Cooperative Bank, Barclays Bank, Chase Bank, Standard Chartered, I&M, National Bank of Kenya, NIC and Family Bank respectively.

Britam has beaten UAP off its seat clinching the number one position of most mentioned insurance company in Kenya.

UAP takes second position while Old Mutual takes third place. Jubilee Insurance, Resolution Insurance, Kenya Orient and CIC follow respectively.

Safaricom leads the table of the most mentioned telcos on Twitter in the last one month. According to iStats, Safaricom scored 61 percent of the overall scores. Airtel came in second with 31 percent while Orange and YU came in at third and fourth places with distant 5 and 3 percent respectively.

Submitted data also reported on the most talked about phones and devices. Infinix topped the table with 32 percent while Samsung and Microsoft EA tied at 21 percent. Tecno followed with 16 percent and Lumia EA at seven percent.

Retails chains were also analyzed with Nakumatt taking the top slot followed by Uchumi, Tuskys with other retailers taking a combined 13 percent.

Village Market emerged top on the list of most mentioned shopping outlet in the country with 25 percent.
