President makes 350 parastatal appointments

SIGNING-CASUALNAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 3- President Uhuru Kenyatta has made 350 appointments to various parastatals as he seeks to revolutionize how the government operates.

The list of board members published on a special Kenya Gazette notice dated October 2 include some young Turks, notable politicians and even media personalities.

Among politicians named include Bifwoli Wakoli to serve as a board member at the Kenya Waters Tower Agency, Dickson Wathika at Athi Water Services Board among others.

The widow of former assistant minister Orwa Ojode, Mary Okoyo has been named to the Lake Basin Development Authority Board.

Prominent Radio personality Caroline Mutuko will serve on the Board of Kenya Institute of Mass Communication alongside Royal Media’s Farida Karroney. TV queen Julie Gichuru joins the Brand Kenya Board, while Royal Media Managing Director Wachira Waruru has been appointed to the board of the Kenya Cultural Centre Council. The council, which is in charge of the Kenya National Theatre among others will also be headed by Kenya Breweries director Eric Kiniti, filmmaker Alison Ngibuini, thespian Ted Muthusi and the father of the famous Moipei sisters, Nicholas ole Moipei.

The National Oil Corporation of Kenya Limited

While appointing, the President is said to have considered academic qualifications while gender, ethnicity were also a factor.
