NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 28 – A police officer was on Tuesday night stabbed in an attack by suspected thugs in Kariobangi area.

During the incidence, one suspect was shot and killed in the drama that happened as police tried to arrest a group that had been attacking and robbing motorists and pedestrians.

Nairobi Police boss Japheth Koome says the officers had been informed there were suspected thugs harassing locals after the evening rains.

“On arrival, the officers were confronted by one of the suspects who resisted being arrested and in the process one officer was wounded,” he said.

One suspect managed to escape on foot but police say he is being pursued.

The officer who sustained an injury in the hand is admitted to hospital in a stable condition.

Elsewhere, Police have launched investigations on two separate incidents in which two people committed suicide in Nairobi.

The first incident happened in Dandora where a body of a man was found hanging in his bedroom with a suicide note on the table.

The note said the man took his life because of hard life in the city.

Another body was found in a house in Huruma area after a quarrel with his family. Police say they are investigating both incidents to establish the motives, if any.
