The Machakos Governor was speaking at his office when he met a team from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) which paid him a courtesy call led by their Chief Executive Officer Halakhe Waqo and his Deputy Michael Mubea.
MACHAKOS, Kenya, Oct 21 – Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has welcomed the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to partner with his government in setting up systems that will enhance transparency and accountability in the county.
Mutua said the partnership will transform Machakos into the epitome of efficiency in all areas of public service adding that he was committed to making the county a corruption free zone.
He said the partnership will also help citizens get value for their money and the enhancement of service delivery in all government departments across the county.
“Machakos will partner with EACC to make the county the best on integrity matters not only in the region but in the entire country,” said Mutua.

The EACC team is in Machakos for two days on official duty.
Mutua welcomed the EACC team to Machakos and urged them to feel at home and visit various projects undertaken by his government and which include the upgraded Level Five Hospital, The Peoples Park and the Makutano Ma Mwala-Kithimani Road among many others.
Waqo appreciated the development strides that have been achieved in Machakos citing the transformed Kenyatta Stadium which hosts national and international sporting events.
He said counties should stop viewing EACC as an enemy adding that the organisation has many roles it plays and that can transform the devolved units into centres of efficiency and service delivery.
Waqo hailed the Stadium as one that has met high standards in terms of what it was offering in the sporting industry.
The EACC boss said he was happy that the partnership with Machakos will help demystify the role of the watchdog body.
Mubea said the EACC partnership with the Machakos Government will see the setting up of corruption prevention committees that will train staff on ethics and minimise the culture of corruption.
