Govt hands out Sh1.1bn cheques to resettle IDPs

She said there were some IDPs who were yet to be resettled because of some logistics and asked them to remain patient.

“This Government will make sure all IDPs are resettled. I ask those who are yet to benefit from this exercise that we are working round the clock to complete the exercise once and for all,” she said.

Governor Mbugua commended the Government for its commitment to providing a lasting solution to the problem of IDPs.

“We are happy that the Government has finally moved to resettle the last batch of IDPs so that they can lead normal lives like the rest of Kenyans,” said Governor Mbugua.

Adan Wachu, the Chairman of National Consultative Coordination Committee on IDP told Kenyans to be wary of some individuals going round urging the people to contribute Sh2,000 so that they could benefit from the IDPs resettlement programme.

“We are told there are some people moving from one place to another telling people to contribute Sh2,000 so that they can benefit from the IDPs resettlement exercise. You should report such people to authorities for action to be taken against them,” he said.

Wachu said majority of the people have been resettled and all the camps will soon be closed.

Waititu urged Kenyans to support the Government in implementing its development agenda.

“It is good that our CORD brothers have finally spoken that they have information on who fixed our Deputy President. We ask them to provide such information to the judges at the ICC,” said Waititu.

“I am sure if CORD leader Raila Odinga travels to ICC and tells the judges the truth about the post election violence, our Deputy President and Journalist Joshua Sang will be freed because they are innocent,” added Waititu.
