Boinnet says lack of harmonious work relations amongst senior officers is greatly hampering work in various departments of the police.
“We want them (officers) to know the absolute imperative of changing the way we do policing in the country,” he stated.
He noted that with the emerging security threats like terrorism, there was need for every member of the national police service, “to work together. We want to change the way we do business.”
He was speaking at the KICC when he met police officers of higher ranks from various departments where he said a similar sensitization programme will be launched at all levels of the police service.
The meeting was mainly aimed at enhancing working relations amongst senior police officers towards improving service delivery in crime management.
Boinnet said police officers must align themselves with the requirement of the new constitution that requires the National Police Service to work in harmony.
“We are all members of one service,” he asserted.
In previous incidences where the country had been attacked by terrorist, cracks within the police service have been blamed to the loopholes often noted.
This programme, he said will also help in boosting police-public relation once, “a people centered police service is achieved.”
