NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 8 – Two prosecutors arrested while taking a bribe in Kisumu last week have been interdicted.

Jared Rutto and Herbert Okumu were arrested after receiving Sh15,000 from a complainant to reinstate his case in court.

Police are said to have recommended that the case be dismissed.

A statement from the DPP’s office says the two will also be charged at the Homa Bay anti corruption court on Wednesday.

“The Director of Public Prosecutions has directed that upon being charged the said officers be interdicted as required by law pending competition of their trial,” read part of the statement.

Tobiko says they can only return to work once cleared by the courts.

The two will be facing charges of abuse of office charges by corruptly soliciting and receiving a bribe from Henry Omolo after convincing him to pay up Sh15,000 to reinstate the case.
