, NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 30 – Mombasa County has received a new police commander in new changes announced by the National Police Service.
Tito Kilonzi will be the new commander for the County that continues to face various security challenges more so radicalisation of young people who have increasingly continued to be lured into joining terror groups.
Former Nairobi deputy police boss Joseph limo will be the new police commander for Kisumu County, Nelson Njiri in Kajiado County and Kalicha Roba in Embu County.
Patrick Mwakio will be the new Nairobi Deputy County Commander replacing Limo.
This is part of the wider security measures being undertaken by the police service to seal any security loophole across all parts of the country.
Already there is an ongoing joint operation by the police service and the Kenya Defence Forces to weed out terror elements in the country.
Areas mostly covered include the Northern part of the country, Nairobi and the coastal region.
Just recently, two suspected terrorists were arrested in Garissa.
The two suspects arrested are said to be linked to Mohamed Kuno (Gamadhere) who is said to have been the mastermind of April’s terror attack on Garissa University that left 148 people dead, 147 being students.
The security agencies recovered a cache of firearms and explosives.
