NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 25 – The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has applied for warrants of arrest against two game wardens accused of unlawfully discharging their weapons and causing deaths and injury during unrest in Narok early this year.

The incident occurred when hundreds of protestors were camping at the county government headquarters, demanding to hand a petition to Governor Samuel ole Tunai, but events turned chaotic when a group attempted to storm into his office.

The application was made on Tuesday before Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutoko who directed the matter be mentioned on Monday next week.

During the protest led by the area political leaders, there were reports that two people were killed and dozens injured.

Among those wounded was area police chief Paul Leting and two of his juniors.

Police fired in the air and lobbed teargas to disperse the crowd which quickly regrouped and took positions outside the county offices.

The residents were accusing Governor Tunai of failing to perform to their expectations and wanted him to resign to pave way for fresh elections.
