NAIROBI, Kenya Aug 24 – The Law Society of Kenya wants the National Cohesion and Integration Commission to investigate political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi over alleged inciting remarks made of his twitter account.

LSK Chief Executive Officer Apollo Mboya says the NCIC should probe Ngunyi’s remarks which he says target a specific community.

LSK requested the commission to make necessary recommendations to the Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko with a view to charge Ngunyi in contravention of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) Act.

“In particular, the posts target members of a specific community as lacking individuality and in a state of mental slavery, assertions that are not only false but may very well constitute hate speeches directed at specific members of community for which I am member,” said the LSK CEO.

Mboya said Ngunyi’s remarks are intended to incite feelings of contempt, hatred, hostility and discrimination against a community on the basis of ethnicity – an offence under Section 62 of the NCIC Act.

The political analyst stirred emotions on Kenya’s social media after he was engaged in a tirade on Twitter with CORD luminaries Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, Homa Bay County Woman Representative Gladys Wanga and ODM Communication Director Philip Etale following his remarks against CORD leader Raila Odinga.
