Writhing in pain and despair, helpless Tom lay in the seclusion room placing all his hopes in God.
It was until the following day (Sunday) when another man also known to him showed up.
He thought finally some help had come his way.
But no, the man instead took him to a doctor for circumcision – since he had entered the Kianda – after which he was secretly taken to a seclusion room for recovery.
“All this time I could not feel myself, the whole of my body was in pain. I could hardly move or eat well. The man got worried. He took me to hospital about four days after I was circumcised,” Tom recalled.
“He however told me he would take me to hospital on condition that I would lie that I had been circumcised before the torture,” Tom narrated.
Because he was in despair, Tom obliged and in fact in his first account he said he had not been forcibly circumcised.
Deputy County Commissioner Benjamin Nzioka has told Capital FM News that the man and the doctor who circumcised Tom will face charges.
“There is a man who took him to hospital to be circumcised. He has a criminal probability and the doctor who circumcised him, he should not have done that because Tom was already injured. He should have made the police aware.
“He is also going to be questioned on that and he is also going to be held responsible,” Nzioka asserted.
Tom and his family have recorded statements with the area police but the suspects who beat him up and burned him are still at large.
