Nkaissery says it is the second time CNN is taking a biased angle in its reporting about Kenya’s security yet terrorism is a global challenge.
“It’s becoming a pattern of anti-Kenya propaganda by CNN,” he said.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday afternoon, Nkaissery said it is only fair if CNN apologizes for the misleading TV report that was aired for the better part of Thursday morning.
“Kenya like any other country in the world is at risk of terrorist attacks owing to our proximity to Somalia, a country that is being used by international terrorist network agents to recruit train and plan attack against the region, we have suffered attacks. However, these attacks don’t turn Kenya into a terror hotbed as alleged by CNN,” he added.
He says Kenya has stood steadfast against terror, pointing out that the country is part of the nations deployed in Somalia to restore peace and stability.
“We continue to hold the world’s largest refugee camp, champion the search for peace and stability in Somalia, other countries in the region and beyond. We do this in the belief that our prosperity is linked to a peaceful neighbourhood,” he said.
Kenya he says will continue to make positive progress in securing its citizens, through tightening border control and tackling radicalization.
He says the government has put up security measures to ensure smooth running of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit adding that the country is ready to host US President Barack Obama and the conference delegates.

Earlier, Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed had too voiced concerns about the report when interviewed by Capital FM News, saying it was unfair to portray Kenya as the country that solely suffers from terrorism.

“We claim no ownership of terrorism. If somebody wants to apportion ownership to us then they are mistaken, terror does not respect boundaries, does not respect nationalities, it is totally indiscriminate it affects everyone and everywhere,” she said.

The CNN package headlined, “Security fears as Obama heads to terror hotbed,” includes an analyst who says the US military has increased its offensive against the Al Shabaab in Somalia “to send a very clear message to Al-Shabaab not to try to attempt anything against the President.”
