While addressing journalists from his office, Nkaissery said two men of Tanzanian origin were nabbed while attempting to lure Kenyan ladies in a bid to recruit them to join the Al Shabaab terror group and were now in police custody.
“The two Tanzanians will be appearing in court soon,” he said.
He urged the public to be more vigilant even as they in the security docket tightened the loose ends saying the arrest of the two men clearly showed the desperate efforts of the ‘criminals’ to bring harm to Kenyans.
“We are increasingly focusing on the points of operations by these groups (terror) internally and externally to exterminate them,” he added.
“We are gradually dismantling them and soon we will purge these criminals from our midst,”

Nkaissery went on to thank members of the public particularly those from Lamu and Garissa for cooperating with Police and reporting suspicious characters as this had helped foil potential attacks and even lead to the arrest of the suspects.
He said 48 aliens had since been arrested in Garissa, Mandera and Wajir counties while another individual whose picture was published in the media was also nabbed at Baure KDF Camp.
“The police have also arrested six youth believed to be from Somalia and one person with links to the Al Shabaab,” Nkaissery stated.
He said the youth were arrested in Makaburini, Kakamega County and were being interrogated by the Police in a bid to get information from them.
He further stated that they had also arrested a suspected terrorist Abdulhakim Abdul Samad who claimed to be a Briton of Somali/Arab ancestry in Lamu and who had claimed to have settled in London 15 years ago and employed at Harrods department store.
He added that the suspect who was driving a vehicle failed to stop at a police road block in Witu, he was pursued by police after attempts to flee and was finally arrested at Gamba where he was found to have no passport nor driving license despite saying he resides at 27 Rufford Tower, Lexeden in London, the United Kingdom.
Nkaissery also warned Kenyans to guard their identification documents ‘jealously’ to prevent cases of impersonation.
He urged the public to immediately report cases of lost identification documents as the terror suspects were forging the documents and adopting the individuals’ name urging those who have not reports to immediately apply for abstracts.
“This will help the authorities to flag out such documents and invalidate the illicit usage,” he advised.
Nkaissery further reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring security expressing confidence that war against terror would be won.
