NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 28 – The Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) has obtained an order to hold Senate employee Ali Abdulmajid for 10 days as they investigate his alleged links with terrorists.

The ATPU says it wants to establish whether he has been recruited into the Al Shabaab militia group.

Abdulmajid was arrested on April 24 at Pangani area following intelligence reports that he had been recruited by Ali Shabaab to assist in facilitating an attack on Parliament buildings.

The mobile phone of the suspect is under probe to establish any incriminating evidence.

The investigating officer Corporal Jackson Chacha, told Senior Resident Magistrate Bernard Nzakyo that if the investigation reveals that the suspect is involved in criminal activities then he will be charged with terrorism related offences.

The officer told the court that the time to complete such investigation is not known but he will be able to report back to the court within at least 10 days.
