Anglican leader urges world to rally behind Kenya

GARISSA-VICTIM-RESCUENAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 3- Anglican Church of Kenya Archbishop Eliud Wabukhala has called on the international community to stand with Kenya as it mourns the brutal killing of at least 147 students at the Garissa University College by the Al-Shabaab militia on Thursday.

Wabukhala said global leaders must come together and seek a lasting solution to terrorism which continues to affect innocent citizens not only in Kenya, but across the globe.

“I call upon the international community because the challenge of terrorism has now assumed global dimension. This thing is happening in Syria, Nigeria, and in many cities of the world. So we must come together and see this issue as not a Kenyan issue, or African issue but a global problem,” Wabukhala said during the Easter church service at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi.

So far several countries have condemned the Garissa attack pledging to support Kenya in this challenging moment.

On its part the United States of America condemned the attack in “strongest terms” adding that it will continue to provide assistant to Kenya.

Kenyans have been urged not to be divided on religious lines as any division would make things worse in the fight against terrorists.

Security agencies have also been challenged to be more proactive to avoid future attacks.

“We should do our best not to allow those who want to use religion to make us fight each other. I will even wish that all religious group in the whole world came together to address this issue,” the Archbishop said.
