MACHAKOS, Kenya, Apr 20 – ODM Secretary-General Ababu Namwamba has refuted claims that he plans to ditch the Orange party and said that he is there to stay.

Speaking on the sidelines of a two-day party retreat at Maanzoni Lodge, Namwamba reiterated his support for ODM party leader Raila Odinga, saying that he is a life member of the party and will not be pushed away by anybody.

“I am like a one woman man; I have been in ODM from inception. I am in ODM to stay and I am cautioning the media if you are pandering to the agenda of some outside forces, that are determined to bring discord, disquiet to this party. By picking on Ababu you have dialled the wrong number,” he said.

“Ababu Namwamba is the ODM Secretary-General, as you can see I have no plans of going anywhere. This is home for me.”

He was responding to an article which claimed the ODM Secretary-General had announced he is seeking a party that will unify western region ahead of the 2017 General Election.

But the Budalang’i MP says he never made the remarks when he hosted 48 MCAs from Bungoma, Vihiga, Busia, Kakamega and Trans Nzoia counties at Golf Hotel, Kakamega on Saturday.

“The media has a tendency to hide behind this amorphous phrase called sources. That story is not from me and I condemn that kind of reckless and irresponsible journalism,” he said.

This comes after the National Assembly adopted an investigative report which recommended that Namwamba, embattled Public Accounts Committee chairman, be barred from a new watchdog team.
