Iringo who appeared before the National Assembly Powers and Privileges Committee to give his side of the story said his input was not considered as he accounted for the money which he had been accused of embezzling.
“This report is not representative of the account I gave because I accounted for every coin but the report tends to incriminate me and victimize me and appear as if the money was stolen; it is wrong,” said Iringo.
He added that he was alarmed when he read the report and noted the discrepancies forcing him to call the vice chairperson of the committee – Runyenjes MP Cecily Mbarire – to find out why his views had been omitted.
“After the report came out I called the Vice Chair ‘Mheshimiwa’ Mbarire and I asked her, how come this report does not reflect the information I gave on 29th, 1st and 2nd – the report was kind of criminalizing what I did, I did the right thing according to government regulations,” posed Iringo.

Although the Hansard recording states that Iringo had asked Mbarire why they were putting him in trouble, he insisted that he had only asked why his contribution was ignored.
“The information I gave is in the Hansard and that is why I am requesting you to have a look because it will bring out the real issues, we also gave out a written report which is in the custody of Parliament,” added Iringo.
The Defence PS was then forced to explain why he chose to ask the Vice Chairperson yet he could have easily called the chairman of the committee, Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba.
“The answer was that some of the recommendations made, had not been fully adopted by the committee as there was no consensus between the Public Accounts Committee and that some members had not signed the report,” added Iringo.
According to the report, only 16 of the 27 members of the committee signed the report which later was tabled before the House amid claims that it was not the same one adopted by the PAC members during a retreat where the final report was drafted.
The members who were absent during the signing of the report are: Mbarire(Runyenjes), Joseph Manje, Julius Melly, Arthur Odera, Omondi Anyanga (Nyatike), Samuel Arama (Nakuru Town West), John Mbadi (Suba), Alice Chae, Jessica Mbalu, Jude Njomo and Junet Sheikh Nuh.

Iringo now claims the accusations are politically motivated and were bent on tarnishing not only his reputation and image but also that of government.
