PAC altered report to tarnish my name – Iringo

He insists that he accounted for every cent allocated to the Interior Ministry further calling on the Criminal Investigation Department and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate the claims by PAC.

“I have never bribed any member of PAC, there was no room, nobody asked me for money, I never gave any money… these allegations are total lies. It is calculated to demean my character and achieve other objectives,” lamented Iringo.

Iringo bitterly denied every having any conversation with members of PAC over the ‘confidential expenditure’ report and the bid to expunge his name from the report alleging that over Sh. 2.9 billion had been embezzled.

He denied Namwamba’s claims that he (Iringo) had spoken to him through Bett’s phone saying if the embattled PAC chair had wanted to speak to him, he would have called him since he had his number.

“I am not aware of situations where I was supposed to provide money to PAC members, with regard to provide business opportunities, that cannot be my role…there are laid down procedures and the tendering process is rigorous,” said Iringo in response to a question by Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau.

The Kigumo legislator had sought to find out whether any members of PAC were working with the Defence Ministry and whether they had been awarded any contracts as stated in a letter by Namwamba to the Speaker claiming that PAC members had been promised ‘business’ in the defence docket if they doctored the report to favour Iringo.

Iringo maintained that all his associations with Members of Parliament were purely work related.
