NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 23 – Justice David Onyancha has disqualified himself from hearing a defamation case against activist John Githongo.

The judge is citing undue interference with his judicial independence and discretion from an unnamed person.

The activist has been sued by former Internal Security Minister Chris Murungaru who has accused him of tarnishing his reputation over the Anglo Leasing scandal.

The withdrawal by the judge comes after Githongo and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga filed their submissions in the case.
