NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 18 – Three Members of Parliament and a Senator on Wednesday recorded statements with the police over allegations of a plot to kill Dagoretti North lawmaker Simba Arati.

The four legislators include Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Nominated MP Johnson Sakaja, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa and Senator Beth Mugo.

Kuria who recorded his statement at the Kilimani Police station says the aggrieved MP alleges that on February 15 this year, the four had a meeting at Sakaja’s KICC office where they allegedly discussed eliminating Arati.

Another meeting was allegedly held at former Cabinet Minister Musikari Kombi’s residence in Nairobi.

“I have not visited Hon Sakaja’s office since October 2014; I do not know where Musikari Kombo’s place is… accordingly, it is impossible and incorrect to allege that I attended the said meetings,” Kuria stated.

“It is my considered opinion that Hon. Simba Arati is either lying deliberately or he is of unsound mind,” Kuria said.

The Gatundu South MP who was accompanied by Dagoretti South Member of Parliament Dennis Waweru said he intends to sue Arati.

He stated that he was innocently being targeted while, “he is busy serving his constituents.”

“I am tired of these guys waking up and just dragging my name every morning…the other day they were hounding me on social media, now they are doing it offline.”

He said already he had contacted his lawyers over the allegations.

“I will be willing to take the necessary legal action against Hon Simba Arati.”

Waweru on his part said Arati is only an attention seeker who wants to tarnish the names of other leaders.
