NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 12 – “I forgive those people who did this to my Daddy…because he did not bring me up to hold grudges and not forgive,” one of the late Kabete Member of Parliament George Muchai’s daughters said during the memorial service of her father.

“Dad, I will work so hard as you always told me to…you taught me so much in the world; how this world can be cruel and it is. I will try my best to be with mum and comfort her,” said another.

A sombre mood had engulfed the memorial service as family members and political leaders recounted of their memories with the leader who was killed in cold blood alongside his driver and two bodyguards on Saturday morning in the heart of Nairobi; along Kenyatta Avenue.

Muchai was described as a man of his word and a leader who worked towards the growth of his constituency and that of the country besides advocating for the rights of the less privileged.

“Time has come in this country for us to say No to the few individuals who think they can continue perpetuating evil. We shall not allow a few corrupt, evil and inept people to intimidate others. This country is for over 40 million Kenyans and we shall win this war,” President Uhuru Kenyatta who led political leaders in celebrating Muchai’s life stated.

The President remembered the Kabete MP as a pillar in the ruling coalition, pointing out that since his days as a unionist he had championed and stood with the people.

Hours later, Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery stated that a suspect would be taken to court to seek for more time to investigators as they pursue leads that may lead to more arrests.

Nkaissery said already police are in hot pursuit of other people involved in the killings that occurred on the dawn hours of Saturday, along Kenyatta Avenue.

“So far, investigators have covered significant ground and made good progress. In this regard, one suspect will be appearing in court tomorrow to face charges related to the murder of Muchai and three others,” he stated.

“Let me also point out that as result of good leads so far obtained from suspects and eyewitnesses interviewed by the police, Investigators are in hot pursuit of other suspects.”

While addressing journalists, he also revealed that already police have established that the suspects had carjacked a driver at Kangemi shopping centre on Friday night at about 10pm.

An hour later, the CS said the same group car-jacked another vehicle, Toyota Spacio with two ladies in Wangige area which was used at the time of the murder.
