Carl Singleton was denied bail pending mental assessment before the mention of the case scheduled for February 19.
He is accused of killing Peris Ashley Agumbi at an apartment in Gachie in November last year after allegedly flushing her diabetes medicine in the toilet.
The accused was arrested soon after the deceased woman filed an assault complaint at the local police station where she gave details of how he had thrown away her medicine.
She later fell sick and was taken to a Nairobi hospital where she died after suffering diabetic hypertension and respiratory failure.
Singleton met Agumbi online through Facebook three years ago.
He afterwards flew to Kenya on a tourist visa to spend time with her in person.
