Tunai blamed the accusations on a witch-hunt, since he had shut down channels used by cartels to pocket the monies collected from the vast Mara reserve.
Tunai says since the county hired a private company for collection, revenue has improved.
On Tuesday, the five legislators had failed to honour CID summons to record statements over the matter.

On Monday, protesters estimated at thousands had camped at the county government headquarters, demanding to hand a petition to Tunai, but the situation turned chaotic when the group attempted to storm his office.
Among those wounded was area police chief, Paul Leting and two of his juniors.
Police fired live bullets and lobbed teargas to disperse the crowd, which quickly re-grouped and took positions outside the county offices.
