NAIROBI, Kenya Jan 6 – Pathologists are yet to release results of a postmortem conducted on the body of CORD leader Raila Odinga’s son, Fidel.

The family is understood to have been briefed on the preliminary cause of death but the results have not been made public.

A family spokesman had indicated earlier on Tuesday that the results were to be released by the pathologists at the Odinga family home in Nairobi’s Karen at 5pm but no announcement was made.

There was no explanation from the family spokesman or any other representative on when the results will be announced.

A source privy to the preliminary results given to the family told Capital FM News that the pathologists had recommended further toxicological tests to be conducted before a conclusive report is filed.

“The full report will be made public once the pathologists are satisfied that they are through with their work,” the source who declined to be named because he was not authorized to speak on behalf of the family said, “there are further tests required to be carried out.”

The autopsy was conducted jointly by government and private pathologists retained by the family to help establish what caused Fidel’s death.

The 41-year-old first son of Odinga was found dead at his house on Sunday morning after a night-out with friends.

Fidel will be laid to rest on Saturday at the Bondo family home, where his grandfather Jaramogi Oginga Odinga was buried in 1994.
