Kisumu Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o told mourners who had turned up to bid farewell to the late Fidel Odinga at Kisumu Sports Ground that he received a call informing him that the MP was unwell.
“Efforts are being made to airlift the MP to Nairobi for specialised treatment,” he said.
Nyong’o called upon Kisumu residents to pray for the MP as he receives treatment.
According to the MP’s daughter Winnie Olago who spoke to Capital FM News, her father was found unconscious at their home in Riat in the outskirts of Kisumu town.
Winnie says her father was rushed to Aga Khan Kisumu Hospital where doctors attended to him and efforts were being made to transfer him to Nairobi.
Aga Khan Kisumu Hospital Superintendent Dr Sam Oula confirmed that the MP was still admitted to the facility but could not divulge more.
