He said the newly formed Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) mini-poll was marred with irregularities and hopes to clinch the ticket under the Orange Party.
Kanchori was beaten to second place by Patrick Tutui in Saturday’s joint nomination exercise carried out by the Jubilee Coalition parties at 52 polling stations across the vast constituency.
Tutui received 10,502 with Kanchori garnering 10,100 votes while Anthony Kiroken garnered 5,866 votes and the only female candidate Joyce Kimojino, garnered 40 votes.
“We expected the nomination to be free and fair but it turned out to be a sham… it turned out to be merely public relations. The nominations were done just for the eyes of the public, an injustice was done not just to me but to the other three candidates and we have made a decision as the people of Kajiado Central to move with our people back to ODM where we belonged in the first place,” he told a news conference at Orange House.
ODM is due to hold its Kajiado Central nomination on Wednesday while the by-election will be held on March 16.
Kanchori was received by ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba who has assured that their nomination will be free and fair, despite past experience where similar exercises were chaotic.
Namwamba is urging Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery to keep off the region’s politics and concentrate on his ministerial duties.
“We would like you tell Nkaissery that we wish him all the best in his new duties, but he should stop trying to break up the party by luring away officials and supporters. Even as he goes on to his new buddies we are asking him to show some respect that sponsored him to Parliament for two terms,” the ODM Secretary-General said.
The parliamentary seat fell vacant after Nkaissery resigned to take up a Cabinet appointment.
