The first time Member of Parliament maintains that his reaction was fuelled by corruption allegedly going on at the weighbridge after a truck carrying equipment to drill boreholes in his constituency was detained.
“What was covered in the media was the seven minutes (of insults) there is another two hours that you didn’t show and those people covered the story to suit their interest to say we are bad. But you remember they also made a lot of loopholes in what they reported in the six or seven minutes; I have never reacted like that, I did that because of the serious challenges we face due to corruption,” retorted Keter.

Keter who was accompanied by nominated MP Sonia Birdi who was with him during the Gilgil altercation said he was not drunk and disorderly, asserting it is his nature to overreact when faced with corruption as the menace is crippling the country.
“As Keter, whenever I see corruption I must become emotional, so unless you need a doctor to be around me to really sort out my emotions when I see corruption. I might overreact and in most cases I will overreact because the youth have no employment… it is not a wedding so that I can laugh, these are serious issues,” said Keter.
He said the challenges of corruption needed to be tackled head on maintain that he was supporting the government’s agenda of a corruption free country.
“We overreacted because it was necessary then and it became news that is why today Mlolongo (weighbridge) are striking because of corruption,” he added.
He urged Kenyans and the government not to look at the fault in his statements but the corruption issue which he was simply trying to point out, sentiments reiterated by Birdi.
“Why are not focusing on corruption at weighbridges, have we gone and talked to the people on the ground there, and if we have not, then we should,” said Birdi.
She went on to claim that the individual who took the video of the exchange could have been bribed urging the relevant institutions to probe his phone including going through his M-PESA transactions.
The two leaders are yet to appear before the Ethics and anti-Corruption Commission and the Criminal Investigation Departments as they have not been summoned.
Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko had ordered a probe into the matter.
