HOMA BAY, Kenya, Dec 15 – The ODM nomination for the Homa Bay senatorial seat has aborted after a group of youths destroyed ballot boxes as the exercise was about to kick off at the County Assembly grounds.

All candidates were forced to scamper for safety as police fired in the air to disperse the rowdy crowd following complaints that non-bonafide delegates had been ferried to vote for some candidates.

Chaos started soon after candidate Moses Kajwang, a brother to the late Senator, arrived at the venue.

Moments earlier, Returning officer Peter Odoyo had assured the delegates that names of each delegate would be called out to ensure non-bonafide members did not vote.

However the angry members would hear none of that and instead resorted to destroying the ballot boxes and demanding outsiders be ejected from their midst.
