NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 6 – Narok leaders have agreed to allow peaceful settlement of their dispute after meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House on Saturday.

The Narok delegation was led by Senator Stephen ole Ntutu and included Members of Parliament and members of the Narok County Assembly.

They briefed President Kenyatta on issues bedeviling their county.

Responding to their requests for him to intervene, President Kenyatta asked them to give the national government time to do its investigations and then come up with its report before taking any action.

The leaders agreed to call off their Monday meeting so as to give the national government time to undertake its own investigations.

Narok leaders who accompanied the Senator included MPS Korei Lemein (Narok South), Patrick ole Ntutu (Narok West), Johana Ng’eno (Emurua Dikirr) Moitalel ole Kenta (Narok North) former Narok North Member of Parliament William Ole Ntimama as well as former Transport Licensing Board chairman Hassan ole Kamwaro.

Thousands of demonstrators who included Senator Ntutu recently took to the streets of Narok demanding the immediate resignation of Governor Samuel ole Tunai on corruption and misuse of funds, giving him a 14-day ultimatum to quit.

The demonstrators had planned to hold another major demonstration on Monday to forcefully remove Tunai from office if he doesn’t resign by then.

Tunai has however vowed not to quit and asked his critics to provide evidence of corruption and misuse of funds at the County.
