KIAMBU, Kenya, Dec 2 – Kiambu County residents will soon enjoy an automated receipting system which will make payment of fee and levies convenient plus increase efficiency and effectiveness of revenue collection processes.

This follows a pilot project that succeeded in the Thika sub-county and will soon be rolled out across the county.

The system will provide citizens secure online payment options for the different services provided and also bridge the need for trusted and reliable data that involves creating and maintaining a single view of each taxpayer.

According to Douglas Gicho the ICT Director of Kiambu County, “The system will provide single view of the citizen by providing a single master record for each citizen, promoting greater consistency and visibility across all touch points. This solution will allow all information systems and business processes to share accurate and consistent data, and at the same time minimise cash handling at all revenue collection points,” he said.

Gicho said that the ongoing reforms and restructuring, and the unclear definition of functions by the devolved staff had posed a challenge to revenue collection, hence the need to have new and better systems.

He said that the government had recruited skilled staff that will help in revenue collection and the finance department is in the final process of updating the valuation roll.

The county government is also implementing a Central Business Intelligence and analytical solution to achieve a more sophisticated reporting analysis tool with open environment access such web, excel, mobile platform etc.

The Central Business Intelligence Implementation brings all disparate revenue collecting across the county application data in a common reporting platform.
