J.J Kamotho dies in South Africa

JOSEPH-KAMOTHONAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 6 – Former Cabinet Minister and MP John Joseph Kamotho has passed away in South Africa.

Kamotho who once served as KANU Secretary General died in South Africa on Friday night, according to sources close to the family.

He served as a Cabinet Minister in President Daniel arap Moi’s government and was Member of Parliament for Mathioya.

Moi and current KANU Secretary General Nick Salat are among leaders to sent condolences to the late Kamotho’s family.

Moi said he had learnt of the death with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss.

“Besides politics, Kamotho was a personal friend for many years. In politics he was an energetic, thoughtful and an indefatigable public servant and a man who contributed immensely in making KANU a robust system in the service of the people” he said.

He pointed out that Kamotho gave his all in serving Kenyans in the Civil Service, as MP for Kangema and Mathioya and a Cabinet Minister in various ministries.
