Speaking during the handing over ceremony at Harambee House Nkaissery said that any who is not satisfied with their job should tender in their resignations as soon as possible.
He pointed out everyone should give their best especially as the ministry was looking forward to efficient service delivery to Kenyans.
‘If you are a security agent, if you are employed and is earning tax payers money and you are given that job to secure Kenya, it is your responsibility to do so and if you will not, the best thing is to take a walk because we will deliver according to the oath of office which I have taken,” he said.
The Interior Cabinet Secretary stated that each worker should be motivated to give their best to Kenyans.
“I am not going to push people. I am going to encourage people. I want the security people to know that they have been trained to safeguard Kenyans. That is their job. They have been trained for it and they will have to do it. I know that Kenyans have been having this lack of confidence on the security organs but that is going to change,” he indicated.
He further stressed that the government will empower security agents so that they may perform at their full potentials.
“I think our security organs are doing a good job and it is my responsibility to make sure that we help them, empower them and give them, capacity to be able to deliver in their mandate. I think that confidence will begin today and I want to promise that I will not let Kenyans down and the team I am going to work with will be a good team and if it means that we re-train our people, we will do just that,” he said.
Nkaissery had also urged all Kenyans to be on the lookout of any suspicious activities during this festive season.
Nkaissery pointed out that everyone should take up the responsibility of ensuring that matters to do with security are dealt with as fast as possible.
He emphasized that any suspicious activities should be reported to the authorities as fast as possible since this could save lives.
“Be on the lookout for any suspicious activity. Should you observe anything at all that is out of the ordinary, call the emergency line 999 or 112 or report the activity to the law enforcement. That simple act could save lives and avert disaster. My message to you is that the government is alert,” he said.
Nkaissery further indicated that the government will work hard to ensure that all Kenyans are safe.
“We will work around the clock to protect you and your families. You have a right to safety and security. So if you see anything, say something. Call 999 or 112. Don’t forget, be on the lookout and speak out,” he stated.
