It took the intervention of the area Member of Parliament and the day’s emcee Millie Odhiambo to bring back calm.
“When we want to send off senator Kajwang’ we embrace everyone, so I request that if you are the security of any dignitary however dignified you are, except for our Prime Minister everybody else out of respect for Senator Kajwang’ leave the dome, we want to give Senator Kajwang’ a good send-off,” pleaded Odhiambo.
Kidero has received a backlash from party supporters who accuse him of not towing the ODM line by working more closely with the government.
The church service was followed by speeches from Kajwang’s colleagues from the National Assembly and the Senate.
Kajwang’ was Mbita Member of Parliament for three consecutive terms before becoming a Senator. He passed away at 55.
