MOMBASA, Kenya, Nov 18 – Four people were killed in Mombasa on Monday night after armed youths attacked residents of Kisauni in the mainland north in protest against raids on two mosques that left one person dead.
According to police, the group attacked residents of Kisauni with crude weapons and engaged police officers in a confrontation.
Police believe the attackers are sympathisers of the Al Shabaab terror group.
Kisauni police chief Richard Ngatia says more than 20 youth were arrested following Monday night’s attack and were due to face charges on Tuesday.
