Interior and Co-ordination of National Government Cabinet Secretary Joseph ole Lenku urged Kenyans to turn out in large numbers to welcome the President who is expected to land at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 8.30 am.
“I wish to inform Kenyans that the President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta returns back from The Hague tomorrow (Thursday, 9th October 2014) at 8.30am. In this respect I am inviting Kenyans to turn out in large numbers to welcome the President,” Lenku said in a statement sent to media houses.
Lenku said the President’s procession will pass through Outering Road, Jogoo Road, Landhies Road and Haile Selassie Avenue through to Harambee House.
The Head of State was at the International Criminal Court in his private capacity after handing over power temporarily to William Ruto who is the Acting President.
“As a nation we know where we are and where want to go and we will not allow anyone to dictate to us what we should do. It is up to us, as Kenyans to decide our fate,” President Kenyatta.
“What is left for now is for me to go back home and continue with the work of nation building and development.”
During the status conference, Kenyatta did not make any statement in court where he was represented by his lawyers who urged the judges to terminate the case due to lack of evidence.
President Kenyatta addressed dozens of Kenyans living abroad and MPs who were outside the court where he exuded confidence of winning the legal battle.
“I would to thank you all, because you have come from far and wide so that you can stand with us in solidarity but we leave everything to God,” the President stated.
“I would like to urge Kenyans to unite and work together as one people.”
