NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 30 – The High Court has given temporary reprieve to a city lawyer charged with insulting a court assistant in the law firm of Miller and Company Advocates.

Justice Weldon Korir ruled that the warrant in criminal case before the Chief Magistrate’s court in Kibera against Peter Gichuki King’ara should be suspended pending the hearing of a judicial review application.

The judge said from the submission made by lawyer Gachoka Mwaniki, the court will have to hear all parties in the matter before a decision is made.

King’ara is accused of insulting Sollo Spear Nzuki in an incident that took place outside the commercial court in Milimani.

The matter was reported at the Kilimani Police Station on October 9, 2014 by Nzuki.
King’ara had since been ordered by Justice Luka Kimaru to present himself to the police station for purposes of recording a statement.

The matter will be mentioned on November 6, 2014.
