NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 27 – A Nairobi court has issued a warrant of arrest against a senior High Court advocate for failing to appear in court to answer charges of offensive conduct.

Principal Magistrate Meresia Opondo issued the arrest order against lawyer Peter Gichuki King’ara who lost the Othaya parliamentary seat to MP Mary Wambui.

King’ara failed to attend court to plead to charges in respect of criminal charges against him.

King’ara, who is out on a police cash bail of Sh100,000 was supposed to appear in court on Monday morning but he did not turn up, prompting the prosecution to apply for a warrant of arrest against him.

The prosecution alleges that he made offensive comments against Sollo Spear Nzuki, who is a senior clerk at the law firm of Miller and Company Advocates.

The altercation occurred outside court where they had gone for the hearing of another civil case on October 16.

The case is coming up for mention on November 27.
