The wreckage was found within the vast Serengeti National Park with the three persons on board burnt beyond recognition.
Officials at the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority said the aircraft left Mwanza and was headed to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where it was scheduled to land shortly after 8pm for a stop-over, before proceeding to Magadi.
According to Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary Michael Kamau, the Fokker 27 MK 500 aircraft operated by Safari Express Cargo Limited left Mwanza Airport at 7.26pm on Sunday night.
“The aircraft did not arrive as scheduled and an enquiry was sent to Tanzania as set out in international standards,” he explained in a statement.
The aircraft wreckage was found by a joint team of Kenyan and Tanzanian authorities.
