NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 7 – A suspect has been charged in a Nairobi court with preparing to commit a terrorist act.

The prosecution alleges that Mohamud Abdi Adan committed the offence on or before March 25, 2014 at Olesauni building in Fedha estate.

He was allegedly found with a laptop which had video clips, photo images and downloaded maps of vital installations within Kenya, which he intended to use to commit terrorist acts.

Police allege they found him holding a spy pen camera which had video clips and photo images of the Administration Police College in Embakasi.

He was also accused of being in possession of an external storage device which had video clips and photo images of Parliament, Continental House, Sheria House, Teleposta Towers, Holy Family Basilica, City Hall, Supreme Court, KICC and Kencom House.

Other photos he was found in possession of include Apte Mosque and Mzee Jomo Kenyatta’s Mausoleum.

The suspect had also downloaded maps of the Central Bank of Kenya, UON-Kenya science Campus, Utalii Sport Grounds, Hells Gate National park, Muthaiga Golf Club, Nairobi centre streets, Shampelle Conservancy in Magadi area, PCEA Gateway Church, USIU Hostels, and PCEA Church Kasarani.

The 29-year old pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded in custody until Wednesday next week when further directions will be given.
