NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 21 – The manager of Sky Park Plaza in Westlands has been charged in a Nairobi court for allegedly withdrawing lift services to floors housing the National Police Service Commission.
Bedan Mwangi Nduati however denied that he disabled the lifts between August 15 and 20.
He also disagrees that he locked emergency exists between the 2nd and 5th floors where the Johnstone Kavuludi-led NPSC operates.
The move is said to have inconvenienced the National Police Service Commission and other members of the public.
Nduati was charged days after Kavuludi contacted Safety and Occupation officials and the City Engineer to verify the safety of the said building.
Kavuludi had sought explanation why the lifts are automated in such a way that only the NPSC commissioners get stuck but not other users.
He claimed the peculiar occurrence as an act of sabotage on the commission and could also be an act of espionage.
According to Kavuludi, the problem began on Friday when unknown people were seen in the building purporting to be fixing the lifts.
Nduati was ordered to pay Sh100,000 cash bail to secure his freedom pending trial.
