The President said the reforms will be for the benefit of all Kenyans once completed.
He assured Kwale residents that the Jubilee government is determined to resolve all land matters in the county by partnering with them.
President Kenyatta spoke at the newly refurbished and rebranded Kaskazi Beach Hotel, Kwale County, South Coast where he also opened the 750 seating capacity Dr Charles Gekonde Otara Conference Centre.
The renovated hotel is an investment by a Kenyan family.
The emotive issue of land was raised by local ODM MPs Hassan Mwanyoha and Ms Zainabu Chidzuga who both said they are impressed with the reforms and invited Land, Housing and Urban Development Charity Ngilu to “clean the mess over land issues” in Kwale.
The President was accompanied by Tourism, Trade and East African Affairs Cabinet Secretary Phyllis Kandie, Kwale County Governor Salim Mvurya, and Parliamentary Majority leader Aden Duale among other local leaders and players in the tourism and hotel industry.
President Kenyatta also announced a raft of infrastructural projects in Kwale including the construction of the Dongo Kundu bypass, the renovation and the upgrading of the local airstrip, the construction of the Samburu-Kwale road, and water supply works in Kwale, projects he said will transform the entire county and the coastal region in general.
The President called on local investors to partner with the local people, both in terms of employment of the youth and in the supply of goods and services as the surest way to protect those investments.
The Head of State said such partnership would enhance a sense of ownership among the local people.
He said he was exceptionally proud to be open the re-branded Hotel adding that the ceremony comes at a time when the tourism industry in coast Province is experiencing turbulence associated with insecurity.
He said the opening of the hotel was a sure sign that investors were confident the tourism sector will recover from the current upheavals.
He said the government will continue partnering with the private sector so that the sector can reclaim its previously glorious status and exceed expectations.
He described Kenya as a unique destination with well talented and qualified skills capable of driving the sector to greater heights, besides its attractive sites.
“We have beautiful beaches, beautiful parks and beautiful sites across the country that are not comparable to any other,” said the Head of State.
He called on all stakeholders to work with the government to scuttle terrorism and insecurity in general.
President Kenyatta said his government has workable solution for the youth whom he asked to shun destructive activities. He asked older people to counsel the youth on the matter.
