He moved David Gitonga Njiru from the Infrastructure docket to the Trade and Tourism department, swapping roles with Suleiman Nthiga Kariuki who has held the role since mid-last year.
The Governor moved Dr Johnson Musomi from the Health docket to Investment and Industrialisation, exchanging roles with Pauline Njagi.
Wambora also switched Chief Officers Wilson Gitonga Ireri (Trade and Tourism) with Administration’s Timothy Njeru Gutettah.
It is expected that Gitonga will also assume the County Secretary’s role that Gutettah has been playing.
The Infrastructure and Health dockets have in the past come under fire from the County Assembly and health workers.
In March, The County Assembly threatened to eject Gitonga for allegedly delaying the purchase of Sh100 million graders, accusing him of corruption and incompetence.
Health workers also demonstrated over unpaid dues.
Following the changes, Embu County Assembly Speaker Kariuki Mate said the House would be calling them for fresh vetting to assess their suitability to the new posts.
“Section 35 (3)(d) of the County Government Act, 2012 demands that the person appointed must have knowledge, experience and a distinguished career of not less than five years in the field relevant to the portfolio of the department which the person is being appointed. If you’re proposing someone for a certain role, that person must demonstrate that he or she is suitable. The County Assembly Appointments Committee will be calling them once we receive the official communication,” he said.
Mate also said that they would be pushing to have the various departments distribute at least 70 percent of the money allocated to development.
“At Embu County, we are using 30 percent only for development. We are short-changing our people,” he said.
