Editors elect new officials for Guild

NAIROBI, Jul 5 – Linus Kaikai has been elected the new chairman of the Kenya Editor’s Guild.

Kaikai who is Nation Television’s (NTV) Managing Editor was elected after beating his challenger David Ohito of the Standard Group.

The former South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Bureau Chief now takes over from Macharia Gaitho.

Capital FM Editorial Director Michael Mumo was elected unopposed as the Secretary of the Kenya Editor’s Guild during the Annual General Meeting held on Saturday.

Samuel Maina from Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) becomes the new Vice-Chairman.

Arthur Okwemba beat Charles Kerich to the Treasurer’s seat while Jane Godia was elected unopposed to be the Assistant Treasurer.

Hassan Kulundu scooped the Assistant Secretary post after he garnered 48 votes against Carol Wanyama’s 44 votes respectively.

Wallace Kantai, Faridah Karoney and Tim Wanyonyi were elected into the Guilds Executive Committee while former chairman Macharia Gaitho, Joe Ageyo and Eric Obino will serve as the Guild’s Trustees.

Wachira Kangaru elected to the Legal and Regulatory Affairs Secretary post, Joan Pereruan is the new Training and Innovations Secretary, David Ohito is the Programmes and Events Secretary.

Henry Owour and Churchill Otieno were elected as the International Links and Resource Mobilization and Digital Media Secretaries posts respectively.
