Linturi said the process of removing the CS from office now rests with lawmakers after the Speaker of the National Assembly approved the motion.
“Just like the Speaker said yesterday, that the motion is already before the floor of the House. I would say the motion will be debated next week. And that is the stand at the moment and nothing has changed. I also want to add that there is no one convincing people to decline supporting this motion. Those are rumours,” he affirmed.
Kajiado West Member of Parliament Moses ole Sakuda who chaired the meeting reiterated his support for the censure motion against the Cabinet Secretary, despite sustained pressure from Jubilee leaders who want it dropped.
“Of course there are consultations going on here and there and they will continue but for now tentatively it is set for Tuesday according to the House Business Committee. You know it is good for people to consult, and we are still consulting so even before the motion comes in on Tuesday we will still consult; let’s all wait and see,” he said.
National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has said the motion will be tabled in the National Assembly because it meets all the legal requirements.
