Thirty-five Senators voted to uphold the Embu County Assembly’s decision to impeach Wambora.
Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro made the announcement after a Special Senate Committee found him guilty of three charges facing him.
“Standing Order 68 (5) of the Senate states if a majority of all the county delegation of the Senate votes to uphold any impeachment charge, the governor shall cease to hold office. Consequently at 1.30pm, on Tuesday May 13, 2014 Governor Martin Wambora ceases to hold office as the Governor of Embu,” the Speaker directed.
Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti abstained from the vote while Baringo Senator Gideon Moi voted against the motion.
This is the second time Wambora is being kicked out office after the High Court reinstated him after it quashed the Valentine’s Day impeachment of the Governor.

The Special Senate Committee headed by Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has been investigating accusations by the Embu County Assembly and said it was satisfied with the decision taken by the MCAs.
Senators Moses Wetangula, Kipchumba Murkomen and Mutula Kilonzo Junior faulted Wambora’s lawyer Wilfred Nyamu for failing to advise his client against withdrawing from Sunday’s proceedings.
Wambora also skipped Tuesday’s Senate session despite being invited.
