He said the cowardly acts by criminals will not be allowed to slow down the development tempo Kenya has embarked on.
“We are determined to win the war on terror and the cowardly acts aimed at instilling fear in our people will not be allowed to slow down our development initiatives. Our transformation agenda is unstoppable,” President Kenyatta said.
The President spoke on Monday on the second day of his State visit to Nigeria when he and his host President Goodluck Jonathan addressed a press conference after holding bilateral talks.
As the Government steps up the fight against terrorism, President Kenyatta appealed to Kenyans not allow the criminals to dampen their spirit but instead join hands and work with the authorities to eradicate the menace.
He encouraged visitors to come to Kenya, saying the isolated attacks should not be construed to mean that the country is unsafe.
“Other countries including the United States and the United Kingdom have experienced acts of terrorism but like Kenya and Nigeria, it does not mean those countries are unsafe,” President Kenyatta said.
President Kenyatta sent a message of condolence to the families of those who lost their lives in the recent terror attacks in Kenya and Nigeria and consoled the injured who are admitted in hospital.
On his part, President Jonathan commended President Kenyatta’s resolve to fight terrorism, saying the two countries will work together and cooperate in areas for the benefit of the people of the two areas.

The Nigerian leader called on the international community to play their part and support Kenya and Nigeria in fighting the threats of terrorism. He said terrorism is a global problem that should be fought from all directions.
He joined President Kenyatta in consoling the families of those who lost relatives in the recent terror acts in Kenya and wished those admitted in hospital quick recovery noting that Nigeria has also experienced similar criminal acts.
The two leaders said their Government will cooperate in deepening trade and bilateral ties for the benefit of the people of their respective countries.
They said measures have been taken to promote people-to-people interaction and facilitate partnerships between the businesspeople of the two counties.
