NAIROBI, Kenya, May 12 – Police on Monday killed two robbers in Dandora Estate who had attacked an expectant woman in the crime prone area.

The middle aged woman was attacked by seven armed youths while heading home.

Police on patrol responded to her distress call but were shot at by the thugs who used the woman as a shield.

Two of the attackers were killed but the rest managed to escape with gunshot wounds.

Last year, police were turned into spectators when rival gangs clashed in a daylight gun battle over the control of the expansive Dandora dumpsite.

A few days later, police managed to recover several firearms after an appeal from Nairobi Commandant Benson Kibui and Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi.

In Pangani, a robber was hit by a watchman as he tried to jump inside a godown after scaling a ten foot gate and died on spot.

Nairobi County Deputy Police Commandant, Moses Ombati said police will not relent in the war against crime.

In Nyahururu, a businessman was shot and wounded by unknown assailants who also stole over Sh800,000 from him.

The petroleum dealer has since been admitted at the Nyahururu District Hospital with severe gunshot wounds he sustained on his back during the morning incident.

Nyandarua OCPD Benjamin Onsongo confirmed said three men and a lady followed the victim from his place of work before they overtook him and blocked his way while brandishing guns.

“We have asked all business people to be escorted by police when they are ferrying their money to the bank,” he said.

“We are however pursuing the suspects…any person with any information should report to the police.”

Onsongo said that one of them demanded that the victim and his driver surrender money and other valuables.
