An emergency rescue team was deployed from the Department of Defence headquarters in Nairobi to carry out emergency evacuation.
This happened even as fear mounted over the fate and condition of the remaining crew members.
While confirming the incident, military spokesperson Bogita Ongeri said they were not certain about the number of officers on board.
“We have dispatched a rescue team on the ground. The plane crashed a few minutes after takeoff,” he stated. “We cannot immediately establish the number of those on board.”
“A Kenya Air Force transport aircraft has crash landed in Elwak today. First responders on ground are working on medical evacuation,” A post on the Kenya Defence Forces Twitter handle indicated.
